Modern Style, Sound, and Playability — This SG Delivers!

While it pays homage to a tried-and-true classic, the Epiphone SG Prophecy boasts modern style, sound, and playability. This solidbody electric guitar features a mahogany body along with an attractive hard-maple top — an attention-grabbing departure from the SG’s typical workhorse design. The SG Prophecy is chock-full of tone, including vintage and modern humbucker voices, plus hum-free single-coil textures, courtesy of a duo of Fishman Fluence pickups. It’s also eminently playable, with a super-comfortable, asymmetrical SlimTaper-shaped mahogany neck, a fast-playing 24-fret ebony fingerboard, and a smooth-feeling contoured heel. This SG’s Grover-locking Rotomatic tuners supply rock-solid tuning stability and ultra-fast string changes, while a LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and Graph Tech NuBone nut give you incredible clarity and near-endless sustain. The SG Prophecy is topped off to perfection with eye-catching custom binding and a sharp-looking aged gloss finish.

Multi-voice Fluence humbuckers provide three distinct voices

History’s most sought-after electric guitar tones will be yours when you pick up the SG Prophecy, thanks to its multi-voice Fishman Fluence humbucking pickups. A simple push-pull of the guitar’s volume and tone pots is all it takes to harness these active pickups’ three unique, selectable voices. Revel in a warm PAF-like sound with vintage dynamics and output. Kick it into overdrive with a modern-sounding, high-octane humbucker tone. Unwind with hum-free single-coil textures, highlighted by punchy mids and glassy, shimmering highs. Whatever sound you’re aiming for, the SG Prophecy will serve it up on a silver platter.

Asymmetrical SlimTaper neck provides maximum comfort and speed

Playability is one of the most important elements of a solidbody electric guitar, and the Epiphone SG Prophecy doesn’t disappoint. Its mahogany neck features an ergonomic asymmetrical SlimTaper shape that begs you to wrap your hand around it. Its 12-inch-radius ebony fingerboard sports 24 jumbo frets, and it feels like greased lightning. A contoured heel makes accessing this guitar’s higher frets effortless. This endlessly playable axe has what it takes to become your new number one, both onstage and in the studio.

High-end appointments make this a head-turning SG

The guitarists here at Sweetwater appreciate the SG Prophecy’s high-end appointments. Its Grover-locking Rotomatic tuners supply stable tuning and facilitate quick string changes. Epiphone’s LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece provide super-efficient vibration transfer for optimal tone and near-endless sustain. You also get a Graph Tech NuBone nut for added sustain and clarity. An attention-grabbing hard-maple top, eye-catching custom binding, and a sharp-looking aged gloss finish complete the SG Prophecy.

Epiphone Sg

Beautiful guitar
Rated 5/5

Looks cool, sounds awesome

This thing is a gem. The coil tapping is practical and gives a nice tone range. It's got that great rock crunch or goes metal with ease. Excellent sustain. Knobs, switches, and tuners are heavy duty and feel solid and smooth. The fret inlays are super dope and get all flashy in the sunlight. Great value for the cash.

The Most Unique Guitar I've Owned So Far

I've been smoke free for about 6 months and I decided to buy this for the occasion. I must say, I definitely fell in love with it as soon as I started playing it! It's definitely a huge upgrade in comparison to what I was last using as it has more tone options with the nice Fishman Fluence pickups. I at first thought that I was about to get bored with the black color, but all of the little details from the brushed chrome to the custom inlays, it still grew on me! This is definitely a guitar that's going to have a lot of play time, and I will probably buy another one in a different color at some point in the future!

Forget every negative opinion you might have about Asian import guitars and active pickups.

Add me to the list of the converted. I am NOT overstating it when I say the Epiphone Prophecy SG is easily in the top 3 best guitars I have ever played. And ya gotta believe me when I tell you I've played thousands of guitars of every type. I've been playing professionally for 40 years. I've always been a fan of Gibson SG's but play mostly Telecasters and Strats and NEVER any guitar with typical muddy, over-saturated active pickups. Ever. I hated them with good reasons. The Fishman Fluence active pickups are brilliant. I have abandoned my gear snobbery and distaste for active pickups since playing (and BUYING) my aged blue tiger Prophecy. This guitar is insanely good in every category. Tone - Sparkling but rich and incredibly responsive. I am a TELECASTER player and the sparkle and crunch makes me happy. Need I say more? The neck is probably the fastest neck I've ever played, the intonation is perfect, the big, fat frets make bending effortless. I've never been a fan of bound necks either but the way the binding is installed doesn't compromise the fret feel while whizzing up and down the lightning fast satin-finished neck.

Epiphone SG Prophecy—A Great Surprise!

A few weeks ago, mostly on impulse, I decided to purchase an Epiphone SG Propecy. I contacted my excellent Sweetwater Sales Agent, Loui Ayoubi, placed the order, and waited impatiently for the guitar to arrive. Wow! What a surprise! The guitar has a perfect finish, stainless steel knobs, and arguably the best pickups I've ever heard! It growls! When I used the single coils, it had a brilliant clarity that is wonderful. It does not sound like a Fender—these single coils are louder but beautiful. I once owned a black Les Paul, and it could not compare to this guitar in any way! The neck and frets are perfect, the sound is stunning, and it sounds perfect in every tonal configuration. I admit it took a few hours to adjust to the larger, 24 fret neck, but it was a breeze after 2 hours. It is unquestionably the prettiest guitar I own!
The only "con" is that the neck pulls down, but I'm planning to ask my guitar tech to move the strap attachment to the top "horn" (like the Tony Iommi model). Then the guitar will be a perfect 10. It's still worth 5 stars, and I'm grateful to Loui Ayoubi for his guidance.
Thank you, Sweetwater!
