Shorter Scale Length Means Eminent Playability

Ever since 1956 the Fender Duo-Sonic solidbody electric guitar has been the choice of adventurous musicians that dig Fender style, but want something a little different than a Tele or a Strat. The Player Duo-Sonic's unique voice is due to its 24" scale length — it's got a vibrant sound, and it also makes for a very playable instrument. It's got a slinky feel, extended chords are easier to finger, and you can pull off multi-step bends easily. A pair of single-coil pickups deliver sweet, glassy Fender tone, with sound-shaping provided by a three-way selector and Master Volume and Tone controls. Beginners and experts alike agree that there's a lot to love about the Fender Player Duo-Sonic.

Classic Fender tone from two single-coil pickups

The Fender Player Duo-Sonic packs two single-coil Duo-Sonic pickups, plus three-way switching and Master Volume and Tone controls. These pickups deliver those glassy clean '50s-style Fender tones, and also have enough output to make your amplifier growl when you turn up the volume knob.

Shorter scale length isn't just for beginners

The Duo-Sonic has long been a favorite among beginners and players with smaller hands, thanks to its shorter 24" scale length. And easier chording isn't all that the shorter scale has to offer — it lends a slinky feel to this guitar, and makes it easier to pull off big string bends. Short-scale instruments like the Player Duo-Sonic also tend to have a more powerful, low-mid focused tonality due to the shortened speaking length of the strings.

This neck feels great

With a "C" profile and 9.5" fretboard radius, the Fender Player Duo-Sonic will feel familiar to any Fender fan. One thing we really dig at Sweetwater is that the back of the neck is finished in satin polyurethane, as opposed to the glossy polyurethane on the body. The satin finish feels fast and smooth in your hand, delivering a broken-in feel from day one.

Fender Player Duo-Sonic Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Based on the original Duo-Sonic guitars from 1956
  • Smaller body and shorter 24" scale length for comfortable playability
  • Satin neck finish feels fast and smooth compared to glossy necks
  • Duo-Sonic single-coil pickups deliver classic Fender chime
  • Strings-through-body design enhances sustain and note definition

Yep. Everything it's supposed to be

I have GAS and a lot of nice instruments. This critter is Tele\Strat. MIM is now the MIJ of 80's, 90's for Fender.

A simple gigging Guitar. The hardtail is same as my Cray Strat. Intonation is spot on in spite of minimally shorter scale.

The finish of Strat and Duo-Sonic are impeccable; yes not Nitro but it's not supposed to be.

The only thing I will change is the orientation of the P\U switch. Just my quirk; loosen nut, turn, and re-tighten. I don't use a pick and mostly play hand rhythm. Make it like Tele; froward. back. Not, up\down

Really sounds good with simple Tube amps; RD112 fifty MM, Ampeg Reverb Rocket, old 5 watt single ended. I don't use many boxes. A quality cord is my best effect.

Pure Fender.

Thanks Matt at Sweetwater for always taking care of me.

Awesome Indie Rocker

I bought this Duo sonic after ~10 years of jamming mostly on a squier classic vibe telecaster and I'm already in love with it! The short scale is super playable and Sweetwater did a great job making sure the Guitar was shipped in perfect condition and ready to play out of the box. It's been impossible to put down! Big thanks to Chris Shura my sales engineer for making the buying process super easy and hassle free. Will definitely be looking to purchase more gear from you guys in the future!

A real looker & player

Never purchased a guitar online before and normally wouldn't, since it's typically all about the feel and what just feels right when you pick it up and play. But, due to many stores closing I really had no other choice here. Let me tell you, I will probably do it again after all this even when the brick'n'mortar stores open back up. Abraham made it quick and easy - and I even got to select the SN I wanted as they were all pictured side by side, which is a super cool feature Sweetwater has when purchasing. I would definitely recommend this guitar for anyone looking for a shorter scale electric that plays and sounds quite similarly to a strat at a much lower price. Don't be fooled by it's 'Player' status, in that it's not made in the US - The quality and workmanship on this guitar is absolutely incredible for the price.. Definitely a Fender & no question about it. The pickups are rad and have just the perfect amount of breakup when played more aggressively. Overall, the tone is very clean and surfy as anyone would suspect. It looks and sounds incredible and the setup was perfect too.. no intonation issues at all, which is always a worry when guitars are shipped across the country. The only thing that could make this lil' babe any better is slapping on my fav set of strings! Thanks Sweetwater & Abraham for making this purchase so enjoyable - This is a guitar that will very likely stay in the collection forever.

outstanding value

I bought this guitar not knowing what to expect and now its literally my favorite guitar from my more expensive collection of 10 guitars.
I love tele`s and strats too ,the best way to describe the sound of the Duo Sonic is that it`s a cross between tele and a strat .
It sounds amazing ,it`s very inspiring to play and listen to, very sweet tone, especially in clean or medium overdrive settings, but play it through a fuzz pedal and it sounds absolutely huge .
The neck feels great too, kind of a fuller C style neck that fills the hand nicely . These new Duo Sonics have a 24inch scale neck ,which is the same scale length as a Fender Jaguar and feels great even with big hands like mine. Overall an outstanding instrument ,I liked it so much I ended up buying two .
I might buy a third one ,because I think these guitars are destined to become wanted collectors pieces .The fit and finish is outstanding for the price ,it feels, plays and sounds like a more expensive instrument.I`ll definitely be gigging with my Duo Sonic. I`m hoping fender will release these in a nitro finish in the future. Either way ,great job Fender and a big thanks to SweetWater and Robby for helping me in selecting this fine instrument.
