Value-packed Version of PRS's Iconic Custom 24

The Paul Reed Smith SE Custom 24 solidbody electric guitar puts the sound, playability, and gorgeous looks of the Custom line into a more affordable instrument. The SE Custom 24's mahogany body and maple top now feature a more traditional "violin" body carve that gives it the feel of top-level Custom 24 guitars. A pair of 85/15 "S" pickups delivers a wealth of superb humbucking or single-coil tones. Its maple neck features a Wide Thin shape for comfortably fast playability, and the ebony fretboard is adorned with old-school Birds inlays for that iconic PRS look. This guitar is a true PRS through and through, as well as being a great value — you don't have to be a touring rock star to enjoy the PRS SE Custom 24's exceptional tone and playability.

Exceptional components

The combination of a mahogany body and maple top gives the SE Custom 24 a perfect balance of rich midrange and bright snap — plus, the beautiful flame maple top veneer helps make this instrument a real looker. Add a pair of PRS-designed humbuckers in the bridge and neck positions, and you've got a recipe for thick, sustaining tones. Pull up on the tone pot, and you'll access chiming, bell-like single-coil sounds. And the SE Custom 24's maple neck has a Wide Thin carve, making it very fast and playable.

PRS-designed 85/15 "S" humbucking pickups

This SE Custom 24 is loaded with Paul Reed Smith-designed 85/15 "S" humbucking pickups. An update on PRS's original humbuckers, the 85/15 "S"s are designed to sound terrific whether used in humbucking or single-coil modes. They offer you plenty of output for driving your amp hard while sounding clear and detailed when you want. These SE humbuckers closely resemble the tones of the US-made versions found in the solidbody electric guitars.

PRS quality in every guitar

All Paul Reed Smith guitars are designed for performance, right out of the case — and the SE Custom 24 is no exception. Constructed from high-quality tonewoods and components, PRS instruments carry on a commitment to quality that's been the brand's hallmark since 1985, when Paul Smith began crafting guitars for some of the most elite players in the world. In fact, you'll often see a PRS SE in the touring rigs of the most well-respected PRS artists in the world.

Paul Reed Smith SE Custom 24 Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Full-featured Paul Reed Smith at a great price
  • Legendary PRS quality and playability
  • Beautiful flame maple gives the guitar an elegant look
  • Mahogany body for punchy tone and long sustain
  • PRS-designed tremolo maintains tuning under heavy use
  • PRS 85/15 "S" pickups deliver superb humbucking or single-coil tones
  • Push-pull tone knob accesses great coil-split tones
  • Wide Thin maple neck is comfortable and fast

Very happy!

Guitar came ready to rock. I absolutely love this guitar and it's sound. So much fun to play. I was a little worried about shipping a guitar I've never played. After a short chat with Kurt Martin, I was doubt free I would be rockin with a beautiful, new, great sounding and feeling guitar very soon. And just like that Sweetwater and the crew made it happen! Thank you everyone keeping the passion alive!

A serious upgrade from your average guitar

The SE Custom 24 Floyd is a fantastic guitar - if this is your first floating trem guitar do some research before you get this over a hard tail / fixed trem. The build quality and sound of this guitar is absolutely amazing. The one star review here clearly bought a garbage used guitar off the internet, probably Reverb, as what they described is definitely not usual for PRS. This is a very high quality guitar with a great feel that just begs for shredding.

PRS SE custom 24 floyd.

The build quality and attention to detail of this guitar is excellent! PRS has a very high standard for QC. A couple of minor tweaks to the setup and intonation was all that was needed. The 14" radius Ebony fingerboard, maple neck, mahogany body with a maple top makes the perfect combination for tone, sustain and dynamic sensitivity. The neck shape is a little thinner and wider than my other PRS guitars, also the heel bump is MUCH closer to the body making access to the 24th fret super easy. I would like to see this model with the next up fretwire size but as equipped it is not a problem. The stock 85/15 pickups sound VERY good and are capable of a wide variety of tones and styles of music. Much better than most guitars at 2-3x the price...however IMO if you are using a MESA Dual Rectifier, Fender 5150 or similar amp the stock 85/15 pickups are a little lacking in dynamic response. For me the Dimarzio tone zone bridge pickup brought this instrument to 100% (I am probably way too picky) For me it plays, looks and sounds incredible. Highly recommended!

PRS SE 24 Floyd

Ive had many nice guitars (mostly 70-90`s and regrettably sold) none really fair to compare this too. My rating I feel is fair and honest and mostly lowered due to sound. Its a beginner guitar. Bought this as a back up guitar (main ax is a Gibson Les Paul Standard) as I wanted a Floyd again for a few songs. I`m into 80-90`s hair band rock and blues with killer lead solos. Overall body work by Cort is pretty good, other than a poor looking seam on the top and lighter in color than the factory pic, the gloss finish is nice. I like the set neck and binding. Not crazy about the surface mounted covers on the back, just seems cheap. This is my first PRS and wanted to try one cause of the youtube hype. I like the shape and overall feel of the guitar. Starting at the top: Head stock is nice, tuners work fine which is not too important with the locking nut, which is also fine. Neck, other than some minor waviness running your finger up and down the back of the neck, is a wide thin neck very close to my 60`s LP which I really like. I set the guitar up to play really nice with low action, and set up right stays in tune very well using the whammy bar. The fret board is nice as are the inlays which I really like. The higher frets are a bit scratchy, I`ll dress those myself. I sent the guitar back to the factory, had 1 fret that was raised enough the high E string would catch on it,(I play with a light touch and never noticed it but a bass buddy came by and thrashed on it, he pulled the string off the fret board and it stuck under the fret end) and to check the wiring, the 85/15 "S"pick ups are super chimy through my Marshall with greenbacks, to the point it sounds like its in single coil full time, and pulling the coil knob just lowers the volume, and sounds pretty poor. I can back off the tone to get rid of the chimy, but it gets muddy and doesnt sound good. Customer service at PRS is very good, they fixed the fret, I guess the wiring was correct, and still sounds the same. I was hoping there was a issue, but no luck. The Floyd 1000 looks and works ok. That sand in the tuner remark in the 1 star review I can relate too, the threads on the fine tuners are very rough and scratchy feeling, might be from the plating. I put nut sauce on the threads, helped a little but I might order a set of the brass tuners for it and a brass block. I did put foam under the springs. Also the bar, even tightened down good, has a sloppy fit and feels loose all the time, but its usable. The 3 way switch feels cheap, the volume knob feels nice, the push pull tone knob feels really cheap and loose feeling compared to the volume. I`m gonna give up the 2 year warranty and spring for a set of Seymour Duncan pickups next and hope it makes it sound usable for gigging which right now to me its not. I was gonna wait on this review till I do the upgrades, but this is what you get as is. The bag is nothing to write home about, I bought the PRS multi case, nice case but its heavy.
