If You Could Only

If you needed one guitar for the rest of your life, this is that guitar. It goes above and beyond it's price point. The woods used a high quality and the construction is free of flaws. Make sure to clean your fretboard when you first get because there will be some mysterious black residue on it (it's from where Yamaha files the graph tech nut). That isn't a knock on the quality of the guitar because the guitar is perfect from fret to fret and each note is rings out perfectly even. You should always clean your new guitar and restring it anyways. Mine came out of the box in tune. I wish I had bought mine from Sweetwater as the action of the box was a little but despite the odd action, it played better than anything I ever played before including PRS guitars. Now I have the action setup the way I prefer it (low bass strings raised high strings) I have really small hands and purchased this guitar after watching a petite Japanese woman shred one on YouTube. It looked perfect in her hands and it was about time for me to give my SG a rest. I was spot on with that judgement because this is the best neck carve and radius for my hands. Even the nut is a little more narrow than other guitars. I think the nut is about the same as a '60s SG in width. I love the small vintage frets. The small frets let you play quickly and comfortably for hours. Then there's the sustain! Holy moly! This is the longest sustaining guitar I've ever heard! The combination of the graph tech nut and the coating on the bridge saddles reduce friction so much that the string just doesn't want to stop vibrating. What's the tone like? I still have to adjust my P90 closer to the strings to bring out some of the treble from it but it's still clear sounding and does a nice "liquid" Santana-esque lead tone. The bridge pickup is a gift from the guitar gods and is the perfect companion to the mid forward neck pickup. The bridge pickup has a mid scoop in contrast to the P90 and this makes the guitar very versatile. It also sounds like a Tele when you split the bridge coils. Not completely a Tele but much more convincing than other humbuckers I've heard and that's due to the fact that it's EQ'd like a Fender single coil to begin with. The bridge pickup never gets harsh sounding either. The guitar almost plays itself from the ergonomics to the electronics. It's also loud unplugged which is why it has great sustain when plugged in. Every note just wants to ring out freely. I really love this guitar. It's been three years of ownership and I'm still in the honeymoon phase. If you want the best guitar outside of a custom, buy this and don't look back. In fact, buy two or three because they're that good. I hope Yamaha never changes or discontinues the 611. I'd happily pay $2K to have a guitar like this.

Phenomenal

The P90 / Humbucker combination on this guitar is magic. I have an arsenal of guitars but his one has that special something. The quality is great, the neck is beautiful just to look at, the sound is versatile yet distinct. Oh how I wish I had this guitar when I was a teen starting out. That said, this is no starter guitar. It can confidently be used for any purpose including professional use. Grab one before Yamaha figures out they are selling a $ guitar for $.

Drop dead gorgeous.

I have about 275 guitars in my vast collection, and this sits above most in overall aesthetics. As far as I am concerned, Indonesia is (and has been for a few years) at the top of solid body guitar manufacturers. This guitar is flawless. The rootbeer color is see through, and not solid, so this adds to the fantastic finish. I may just stop buying guitars at this point, because, could I buy something better?

Yamaha ! Enough said

I'm a retired guy who started playing in Sept'20. This is my second Yamaha Pacifica. I bought a 120H back in '21 and also bought a MIM Strat locally in '21. Like most aspiring guitarists I felt like I had to have a Strat ! After all, they are so iconic. I really dig the Strat but it didn't take long for me to realize I love my Yamaha !!! The fit, finish, playability, affordability, perfectly shaped neck for mildly arthritic hands are what the doctor ordered for me ! The Strat became my practice rig and my cheap Pacifica was promoted to my gig unit when I started playing in a band 6-7 months ago. So when it was time to get an upgraded Yamaha, the Pacifica 611HFM was the one for me ! I prefer a hard tail and the 611 has all the traits I love from my cheaper 120H. It feels like it was custom made for me. The neck plays like butter. The humbucker/p90 combo screams when strumming my favorite classic rock tunes. The slightly narrower nut width is perfect for my hands. If you're looking for a great rig at a fantastic price, look no further than Yamaha Pacifica ! Also, love dealing with Sweetwater. Awesome company !

Incredible Instrument

This is my first guitar with a P90 and this Seymour Duncan pickup absolutely rules. The perfect balance of punch and midrange bite, it just sounds so sweet. The humbucker and coil tap option also sound great but I find myself staying on the neck position almost exclusively. The neck feels awesome, the controls are sturdy, I find myself flicking the pickup selector with just the tip of my pinky. Honestly I have NO idea how they make such an amazing instrument at this price. I cannot put this thing down.
