Classic Jaguar Style with HS Pickup Configuration

The Fender Player Series Jaguar delivers the classic look and feel of Fender's beloved offset guitars, with an HS pickup configuration that modern players will be impressed with. The alder body features the same radius as vintage originals, and the redesigned pickups offer distinctive tones that sound great whether you're playing clean or distorted. And the Player Series Jaguar features a simplified control layout — instead of toggle switches, you get a 3-way pickup selector, plus a coil-split switch to turn the humbucker into a single-coil. All this at a price for working musicians makes the Fender Player Series Jaguar a value-packed guitar you shouldn't miss.

Fender's Player Series: vintage vibe, modern edge

Fender went back to the drawing board with updated radii for more historically accurate body shapes, new vintage-inspired finishes, and a classic logo that harkens back to the Fenders of yesteryear. But these smooth-playing instruments also look to the future with modern enhancements that include 22-fret necks, upgraded bridges for better sustain, and refined pickups that crank out legendary Fender tone by the boatload.

Simplified switching with a vast sonic range

The Player Series Jaguar forgoes the individual toggle switches found on traditional Jags, simplifying the control scheme and also eliminating the need for aggressive players to wedge something in there to prevent accidental switching. Players at Sweetwater are fairly sure you won't miss them, though — between the vibrant and articulate pickup combination and your trusty volume and tone knobs, you'll discover tones appropriate for practically any musical style.

Highly playable neck with modern "C" profile

Finished with satin urethane and loaded with 22 medium-jumbo frets, the maple neck on the Player Series Jaguar doesn't disappoint. Expect a comfortable feel that doesn't feel thin but won't impede your progress if you find yourself in higher positions. And if you're the type of guitarist who regularly tweaks your setup, or you live in extreme conditions, then you'll be pleased to know the truss rod adjustment point is at the headstock (instead of in the neck heel like the vintage originals).

Fender Player Series Jaguar Solidbody Electric Guitar Features:

  • Comfort-contoured alder body with vintage-correct body radius
  • Maple, modern C-shaped neck with satin urethane finish
  • 9.5"-radius fretboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets
  • Player Series Alnico II single-coil and Alnico III humbucking pickups
  • Coil-split switch allows you to access single-coil tones with the bridge humbucker
  • Fender floating vibrato tailpiece
  • Fender standard cast/sealed tuning machines
  • 24" scale length
  • Chrome hardware

Great Guitar!

I have two of these in Tidepool and Capri Orange. I bought the Tidepool first and I was so impressed by it that I bought the second one! I've owned them for several months now and have gigged with friends, I'm retired, and have recorded extensively with them both and out of all of my current guitars, which includes a custom Carvin SC Single Cut that's absolutely awesome, I seem to reach for these the most! I especially dearly love the 24" scale. I wish I had tried them many years ago! I can play as fast as I can on it. It's a very fast neck! The only changes that I have made is that I put an American bridge and tremelo on the Tidepool and Fender locking machine tuners. And I put original type knobs on both. The tuning is very stable even with pretty heavy tremelo use. I had no tuning problems with the original tremelo it just doesn't have a lock mechanism on it to keep it in tune if you break a string and the American one does. I'm going to be very honest here, I do NOT like the bridge that it comes with at all! It's the only issue that I've had with them at all. If you bend strings a lot like I tend to they will pop out of the saddles a lot! It's a very easy fix. I have not changed the pickups because I have not heard any reason to. They're just fine for me. Just make sure that you adjust them properly. The guitar came setup very well which surprised me. I use .09-.42 strings on it and they play great. There was also a very few frets that were a little rough on the ends and a little filing took care of that. Remember the price point of this guitar is pretty low so a little tweaking on it is not a bad thing. And you will end up with an excellent instrument. I would buy them again and I highly recommend them no matter what level guitarist you are. Happy playing everyone!
Music background: I started playing in the late 60’s. I have been a professional musician for a very long time. As I said before I am retired now and play with friends and write and record often.

A practical jaguar

After playing a Squire vintage modified Jaguar for a few years in a surf band, I decided to get one of these, partly for the simplified controls and partly because I like that blue Tidewater color. A year later I can say I'm very satifisfied with this guitar. It needed minimal adjustments, it is fun to play and it sounds just right with the 11's that I use. The humbucker makes it way more useful than the original Jaguar pickups and the knife switch is a much better method of switching pickups off and on. So its a useful, well-made instrument all around. My only complaint is the weight, it's heavy, but that's how Jaguars are -- Jaguars have offset bodies and are very comfortable to play, so these things are givens and shouldn't modify the rating.

Fantastic playing guitar, make sure you set it up though

Although I got this guitar from Sam Ash instead of Sweetwater (my go to 99% of the time), I still feel like I should review this guitar.

There are some reviews here that note about buzzing from the bridge, mine has no buzz from anywhere whatsoever, even with pretty aggressive strumming.

It came perfectly off the rack. I did notice if you lower the saddles though you do get buzz on every string off the bridge. Make sure you intonate it correctly, you don't have to go really high even to get rid of it, my screw heads are just like level with the saddle and that works perfectly.

The pickups on this Jaguar are killer good, neck pickup is strong and crisp, the only downside is when you split the bridge humbucker it's a little weak, but as a humbucker it's absolutely fantastic. For Player series this is a worthy guitar of a plus $1000 price tag. Very little hum and noise to none at all from single coil playing.

Smooth fret ends, pretty solid tuners although I may swap out for locking or grovers.

Simple to operate, easy and fun to play. Little on the heavy side, but what Jaguar isn't!

Well worth looking into for anyone wanting a Jaguar but not wanting to pay Vintera or Pro level prices. Squier Classic Vibe Jaguar was good too, but pickups on the Fender are soooo much better.

Spot on Guitar

I'm enjoying my new Fender Tidepool Guitar immensely. The body is gorgeous and the neck is silky to the touch. The short fretboard is great for my small, fat hands. All I want to do is practice. Thanks Billy and Sweetwater for the fine work and communication you provide.
